Lauren Berthel, LMHCLauren Berthel, LMHC

I am a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) and have been practicing in Merrimack Valley for 7 years and for the past 13 years in mental health and educational settings. I am extremely dedicated to the health and well-being of children, adolescents, adults, and families, through individual, family, group therapies, and emergency psychiatric evaluations. Recognizing an individuals needs, strengths, and culture are essential to creating a unique plan that will foster continued growth.

In working with children, adolescents, and families I have extensive experience with mental health services and systems collaboratively to create treatment, individualized care, behavior, and safety plans. I have particular experience working with families with children with special needs, including the individual child, parents, and siblings, as well as ADHD, anxiety, behavioral, and attachment struggles.

I use a Cognitive Behavioral-problem solving approach to counseling adults. Collaboratively creating goals together is instrumental to making life long changes. Using stress reduction techniques and teaching individuals that taking care of oneself is an important step to good mental health. I use these techniques especially with individuals that have experienced trauma prolonged or once, loss, or anxiety.

My practice counseling children of all-abilities, their families as well as adults in a variety of settings, one-on-one or in small groups, has broadened my repertoire and understanding of the lives of those I have worked with.  In my practice I aim to utilize my strengths which include acceptance and empathy. I wish to instill hope and an arena for individuals to grow and learn.

I completed my undergraduate and graduate degrees at Bridgewater State College and have a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology. I completed my clinical internship at Taunton State Hospital and completed my licensure hours at a community mental health center and psychiatric emergency services.
