Staff-Therapists:

Lindsay Averbook, LMHCLindsay Averbook

Hi! My name is Lindsay, I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor as well as a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor. I graduated from UMass Lowell with a Bachelor of Science degree and double majors in Criminal Justice and psychology and continued on to Cambridge College to obtain my Masters of Education with concentrations in Mental Health Counseling and Addictions Counseling.

I have over ten years of experience in the mental health field and extensive experience working with individuals of all ages and in a number of different settings- in the past I have worked as a clinician at a DYS facility, facilitated groups at a dual diagnosis partial hospitalization program, and served individuals with mental health/co-occurring disorders in a community setting providing outreach services. I also have experience with in-home family therapy, therapeutic mentoring and providing parent support services for families with DCF involvement. I am currently employed at Eliot Community Human Services as a Clinical Supervisor, serving adults with mental illness and co-occurring disorders referred through the Department of Mental Health in addition to my part-time position as a clinician with Wilmington Family Counseling Services.

I believe that building a strong, trusting therapeutic relationship based on mutual respect is the foundation for the most productive and meaningful work to be done. I focus on individualized, strength-based, person-centered treatment and believe that no two individuals are the same, therefore; treatment is tailored to fit individual needs and concerns. I utilize a variety of treatment modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), motivational interviewing, psychotherapy, harm reduction, and various other treatment approaches as applicable.

My areas of expertise include substance use/co-occurring disorders, trauma, eating disorders, working with individuals with history of and/or current legal involvement, and I have extensive experience working with families and individuals with various other diagnoses including but not limited to depression, anxiety, mood disorders, bipolar disorder, and personality disorders. I have a non-judgmental approach that helps my clients become aware and empowered to make the changes that they desire in life. I will gladly answer any questions you may have about my experience and I look forward to hearing from you about what you are looking for in therapy and how I can support you around reaching your goals.

My hours of availability areTuesday from 6pm-9pm, Friday from 6pm-9pm and Sunday from 9am-3pm.
